Die Ausstellung in Garmisch-Partenkirchen zeigt die komplette Sammlung von John Lennons grafischem Werk sowie einige Arbeiten aus Yoko Onos privater Sammlung. Die Entstehungszeit der Exponate reicht von 1968 bis zu Lennons Tod am 8. Dezember 1980.

Viele Arbeiten stammen aus dem „Real Love“ Buch, welches im Dakota Building entstand, als sein Sohn Sean noch ein Baby war.
Die Ausstellung zeigt Johns Beziehung zu Yoko Ono und Begebenheiten aus seinem Alltagsleben sowie seinen großen Sinn für Humor.

Kunst war Johns erste Liebe. Schon bevor er ein Beatle wurde war er Poet und Künstler. Er begann zu zeichnen lange bevor er eine Gitarre besaß, besuchte die Liverpool School of Art von 1957 bis 1960 und malte Zeit seines Lebens.

John Lennons bevorzugtes Medium war die Linienzeichnung, entweder mit Feder, Bleistift oder japanischer Sumi-Tinte. Die Exponate der Ausstellung sind Originalzeichnungen, Lithografien, Serigrafien und Kupfer-Radierungen.

The Art of John Lennon

The complete collection of John Lennon’s artwork is coming to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and will include a number from Yoko Ono’s private collection. The collection dates from 1968 up to John’s death 27 years ago.

There are many pieces from the Real Love book, which were created in the Dakota Building, when his son Sean, was a baby. The exhibition shows John’s relationship with Yoko Ono and his attitude towards every day life and his great sense of humour.

John Lennon was one of the most imaginative thinkers of our time. Even before he was a Beatle, he was a poet, musician and artist. Art was John Lennon’s first love. He began drawing long before he owned a guitar, attending the Liverpool School of Art in 1957-1960 and he continued to draw throughout his life.

The artwork in this exhibition consists of lithographs, serigraphs and copper etchings hand produced from the original drawings. His primary medium was line drawing, either in pen, pencil or Japanese sumi ink.
